We believe in being debt-free, and we want you to be debt-free as well. It is easier than you think, and when you obtain new financing, we can counsel you with a plan to systematically retire debts, typically with no extra monthly outlay of cash than you have now.
There are three basic rules for succeeding in becoming debt-free:
1. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. The first step in becoming debt-free is to assess your financial situation truthfully and thoroughly. Determine where you are now and where you want to be. A careful analysis will provide a roadmap of what you need to do each and every month to eliminate your debt. (Don't worry. We can help you with this step.)
2. Be rigid in your goal but flexible in your approach. Follow the plan to a T, but remember, things may happen beyond your control and you may experience a setback. Keep your eye on the goal and adjust your approach when circumstances change. Don't consider this a failure on your part but simply a fact of life.
3. Always have an emergency fund. To help you overcome those unexpected setbacks more easily, be sure to maintain a financial cushion. You will be better prepared, and instead of veering off course, you can continue on your journey.
